Sisterhood of Snarky Stamper's Challenge #11: S is for Steampunk!

Hello All!

Challenge #11: S is for Steampunk!

Edna is the Steampunkiest, isn't she?

I decided to alter a composition notebook for our Steampunk Challenge.  I bought quite a few of these after Target clearanced out their Back To School items.  My daughter tells me I'll have to get rid of them if I don't use them soon.  Did I forget to tell you I bought them about four years ago.  She says I ought to use them or not buy them!  Now she wants me donate them....obviously, she is not a crafter!  Shhhh, don't tell her that the Graphic 45 paper and the eyelets are at least that old too!

I attached the Graphic 45 Communique paper to the notebook by spreading a quick dry tacky glue in an extremely thin layer over the entire cover (ModPodge works also).  Most glues contain too much water making your papers wrinkle.  After I trimmed the little bit paper overhang so it was flush with edges of the notebook, I sanded and distressed the edges with Vintage photo ink.

I used Kraft-Core Notalgic Core'dinations cardstock with the Tim Holtz Texture Fades-(Blueprints and Pocket Watches) and sanded them to bring out the kraft colored core.  All of the elements, except the man stamp were sanded on their edges and distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  The Tim Holtz Time Travelers man was stamped on some map DP I had in my stash.

All other images are from the Graphics Fairy.  They have tons of free vintage images to use!  I fussy cut the cat and the hand.  I used pop dots on the cat and fingers of the hand.  Glossy Accents were used to accent the bulb and cat eyes.  The free font I used for the snarky Steampunk saying is Ornatique.

Have fun, create a Steampunk project, and enter Challenge #11 for the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers~S is for Steampunk!   We'd love to see what you come up with!

Last post as Guest Designer for Quirky Craft Challenges

Hi All!!!

It's time for a reminder post for the Quirky Craft Challenge #12  - It's a Quirky Fairy World (Recipe Challenge)

I have thoroughly enjoyed being a Guest Designer for the last four challenges at Quirky Craft Challenges!  I will miss it!  Thanks for the fantastic opportunity!

I chose Sleeping Fairy Dreama as my final fairy image!  She has been spreading her fairy dust all night and she is taking a well-deserved nap in the warm sunshine, under the Happy Sun.

These awesome digital images are from our wonderful sponsor, Crackerbox Palace!  I designed the scene and printed in on colored cardstock.  Then, I printed the images on Xpress paper.  Dreama and Happy Sun were colored with Copics and for Dreama's wings I used G00 and covered them with Crystal Stickles.  The sentiment was printed using the free font, The Blue Cabin.

I used Sun, Sentiment, and Sparkles from the Fairy Ring to complete my card!  We invite you to leave the real world and invent you own Fairy World. Build up your own enchanted world, using at least three of the following items from the fairy ring (and a fairy of course). We want to know your dreams!

I hope you enjoy my card!  Don't forget to enter in the Quirky Crafts Challenge #12-Fairies-It's a Quirky Fairy World...you still have time!  The challenge runs until midday on Saturday, June 21st - UK time or 6:00 am CDT.

SoSS Challenge #10: G is for Glitter!

Hello Everybody!

OMG!  Edna is flashing!  Whew...it's only her dress and shoes!  She's back again to help us share our dazzling new challenge over at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #10 is G is for Glitter!  I think Edna should flash more often, don't you?  Lee, on the DT, is responsible for Edna and I think Lee's doing a fantastic job!  Kudos to you, Lee!

Mounting created Bloggif

Edna has attitude and so does Fayette!   Fairy Fayette seems to be saying "You're going to do it my way"!  I could use a little bit of that spunk!  The Hello Happy Dust sentiment is perfect for her!  Clouds round out the scene.  All stamps are from Crackerbox Palace Stamps!

I stamped Fayette and Cloud using Memento ink on Xpress paper.  Each were colored with Copics and fussy cut.  I stamped Hello Happy Dust and Fayette on the cool cardstock from Club Scrap!  I added strips of 1/8th" Scor-tape around two sides and rubbed glitter on it  The glitter, also on the wings, is from Stamping Jazzy Style (out of business, I'm sad to say).  They mixed some fabulous combinations of ultra fine glitter!

Have fun, create a project using ribbon and enter Challenge #10 for the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers~G is for Glitter!   We'd love to see what you come up with!

Starting Me Out on the Right Foot!

Hi, it's me again!

Today I made a Father's Day Card using Crackerbox Palace Stamps.  Happy Feet-Lg. was cut out to separate it from the frame.  Since the image is Retro, I used DP that carried that same feel.  The free font I used is a Retro Style font called Keep On Truckin'  The burlap I used was rubbed Glossy Accents around the edge to prevent it from unraveling.   An arrow from Close to My Heart covered with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

If you've never heard of Keep on Truckin' or underground comics, you didn't live in the late 60's/early 70's.  Therefore I've attached the original logo along with an explanation of the origin of Keep On Truckin'

Thinking of You with Dryer Sheet Flowers

Hi Everyone!

I'm sure by now you realize I am a Snarky Sister!  Well the Sisters got together and talked...We. Like. To. Talk., and decided we had to find some people and have a blast!  We thought let's party with Just Us Girls!  By the way, with that acronym,  J.U.G.s, we new we were going to have an  awesome time!!

This is the first card I made with die-cut flowers from dryer sheets.  I have tried other dryer sheets techniques, but this one was a little more difficult than I had expected.  There were a few different shim trials before I had the flowers cut out completely.  This might be due to the small size of the Tattered Flowers or because of the composition of used dryer sheets.  I tried unused dryer sheets and although they cut out easier, I didn't like the stiff texture.

Prior to cutting, I painted the dryer sheets with Tim Holtz Distress Paints.  The card base is from Stampin' Up and the DP is from the Daphne's Closet Collection by Lawn Fawn.  The sentiment is from Tim Holtz.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Sweet Stamps Monthly Challenge-Dryer Sheet Flowers  6/14
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge:Paint
Shopping Our Stash #155: Something Soft (Used Dryer Sheets) 6/17

GD for Quirky Crafts Challenge #12-Fairy Aurora

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to Quirky Crafts Challenge #12 - It is a Quirky Fairy World (Recipe challenge)  We invite you to leave the real world and invent you own Fairy World. Build up your own enchanted world, using at least three of the following items from the fairy ring (and a fairy of course). We want to know your dreams!

I just found out about the Recipe party of the challenge so I only have two of the items: Sparkles and Sentiment.  During the reminder post I'll follow it, I promise.  :)  I used my favorite fairy and fairy sentiment stamps from Crackerbox Palace Rubber Stamps, our gracious sponsor.  I colored Fairy Aurora with a Wand using Copics and attached her to a piece of purple leathery paper I bought eons ago from Provocraft.  Both the purple paper and the blue are shimmery to begin with but I thought a little bit fairy dust was needed so I covered the purple paper under Aurora with Distress Glitter.  Aurora loves her happy dust!  Check out the awesome Hello Happy Dust verse inside!
